2019 - Côtes du Rhône, Le blanc des Saumanes
It’s after a career of pharmacist and surgeon in Champagne that Martine and Robert Janer have decided 10 years ago to land in Châteauneuf de Gadagne. They fell in love with a piece of land and decided to renovate the winery and restructure the vineyard : Clos des Saumanes was born! Today, the vineyard covers 25 ha (one plot) and is surrounded of trees and old vines that grow in a see of round pebbles. Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault are the main grape varieties on the property. Exceptional terroir with mistral (name of the local wind), sun and deep soils (big pebbles in sandy clay). Perfect conditions to make organic wines, low yield of exquisite grapes are the starting point of the wines produced here.
“At Clos des Saumanes, we truly believe that wine is a language. Before a meal or later in the evening, it helps the sharing of ideas and emotions. Le Clos Blanc belongs to this view of things with its structure, softness and fruity and flowery aromas.” M&R Janer
Varietal : 40% Grenache blanc, 40% Roussanne, 10% Clairette & 10% Viognier
